KNOCK ON UNPAINTED WOOD 2010

First part of the trilogy on the biggest illegal
economies: sex, weapons and drugs.

Strong and expressive dance performance on trafficking of women. JYLLANDSPOSTEN, 29.08.10

Mute Comp. has a mission with their art. Knock on Unpainted Wood is exciting, strong and originally performed and very expressive. KULTUNAUT, 31.08.10

In Knock on Unpainted Wood, the audience is led into the everyday life of a victim of sextrafficking. The performance is the first part of a trilogy on the biggest illegal economies. Hereby, Mute Comp. continues the tradition of working on heavy and complex themes – the unbearable issues, which we tend to avoid in our daily lives.

The title Knock on Unpainted Wood comes from a Polish proverb, much the same as the English expression ‘knock on wood’ – something you say when you think you may have tempted fate. All victims of sextrafficking are initially full of hope for a better future, but in the end everything they hoped for turns into a lie with horrifying consequences and a tragic ending.
