MUTE COMP.
PHYSICAL THEATRE

CV Kasper Ravnhøj
CV Jacob Stage

Mute Comp. Physical Theatre was founded in 1999 by the choreographers, dancers, actors Kasper Ravnhøj and Jacob Stage.

Mute Comp. tackles urban themes and tendencies in performances that embrace theatre, contemporary dance, live music, slam poetry, slapstick and crash dance. Stage and Ravnhøj often combine physical risk-taking with a sense of play creating a unique but highly accessible stage language. Constantly Mute Comp. challenges the body, working on the edge of the possible, often putting themselves at physical risk.

Their daring is combined with a playfulness and a unique physical language, which has its own vocabulary and defies any school or method: Rather, Mute Comp. is informed by the contemporary - be it art, film or music - and by their surrounding environment that allows for the combination of genres and forms such as street dance, theatre, and new circus techniques among many other things.

Mute Comp. has wowed Danish audiences with their subtle and figurative performances through a fresh and accessible dance style that embraces all genres and moods – from slapstick comedy to dark melancholy. The duo has already won a number of prizes and is at the foreground of the Danish dance theatre scene.

The company has also toured in countries such as Syria, Macau, Sweden, USA, Russia, France, Ireland, Lithuania, Egypt and Bulgaria.

Since 2003 Mute Comp. Physical Theatre has been funded steadily by the Danish Arts Agency
